Cherished in My heart is My sweet and beautiful Deborah May
a rose in My garden of those I call My own

What has the world done to you, My sweet?
your petals wilted - falling
your leaves ravaged by My garden's foe
your stem a host to many jagged thorns

Why the thorns, My sweet?
I have already worn them in your stead
you need not wear them e're again

Whence you came unto My garden, I vowed to protect and care for you
With pride and joy I planted you deep
and sent My helpers to water and prune
For a time I relished the sweet aroma of song and praise that freely flowed
But now the thorns have overcome and keep Me so from drawing close

Tears of grief and tears of sorrow I have but shed with you;
a prayer uttered along with each and every dew

Will you come again to Me so I can smooth your jagged thorns?

I long to hear your sweet, sweet song, to wipe those tears away
To see again the vision of My cherished Deborah May
