Our poh hearts are griev'n
Cuz you left for heav'n
And you ain't goin to be here no moh ...

Your house a home to any and all
an open door - an open heart
always to be found at a moment's call

Inside that doh
came overwhelmin' aromas
of all that cajun cookin'
~ okra, collard greens and cornbread beside
s'rimp gumbo, creole or jambalaya

"Ya'll sit down and have a mess,
while we chat and cut up
maybe even confess!
After all, just what are good friends foh?"

The bridge table's shy one,
the washaterias closed,
the video stores now rentin' re-runs

Daughter, Sister, Wife,
Aunt, Mom or Grandma to some
But 'Aunt Carmen' ~ always, a friend and kind helper to all
Livin' life big in our hearts and our minds
As memories resound to relive our good ole times

Your road was paved with sorrows and joys
Some, the likes of us will never see
You done good, but now it's time to rest
Go now, enter into your peace
Knowin' without doubt, by you we've been mightily blessed
